Viewsonic Corp. is set to launch a pair of LCD monitors with 4-millisecond response designed for high-performance gaming. There will be two models, the 19-inch VX924, as well as the 17-inch VX724. Exactly pricing is not available, but sources have said that the larger of the two monitors will cost approximately $549. But you will have to wait until May and June for these babies.

Viewsonic is quoting 4-ms gray-to-gray response times for the two new monitors, along with a 5-ms (typical) response time for other gradations.

The VX924 is a 19-inch, 1280x1024 panel with a 800:1 contrast ratio and 250 cd/m2 brightness. The panel is rated to display both 480p and 720p digital video, and includes a digital DVI-D connector and a pair of analog 15-pin connections as well.

The good gray-to-gray response times help to reduce the "smearing" effects that can occur as an individual pixel gradually changes hue, but not in time with the action on the screen. This makes these monitors very good for gaming purposes.
