A next generation Theatre chip could lead to a new ATI card that caters for both analogue and digital TV tuners. ATI believes that a unified device is definitely the way to go, and that they are more than capable of delivering such a device.

If you would like to use digital and analogue TV decoding at once, you will need two separate TV tuners and this might be handy if you decided to record a program from digital TV and at the same time to watch some analogue program or the other way around.

A single TV tuner with the right software support can do one or another so we will see some dual digital/analogue tuners from ATI in the future. The reasoning is simple - otherwise you will end up with two cards in your PC, one for digital and one for the analogue signal and that is definitely expensive.
