Smaller, faster, cheaper, better. That has been the rallying cry of the tech industry for more than 30 years now. With 4GB flash cards right around the corner and soon to be in our pockets, these incredibly versatile and portable storage devices are finding there way into everything – Cameras, camcorders, mp3 players, wireless radios, kiosks... THG has an interesting article talking a bit about the history and the future of these devices.

The different technologies used in these is given an explanation and the article talks about the pros and cons of the different methods used. Various benchmarks such as transfer speeds (upwards of 30mbyte/sec on certain models, definitely an improvement) and form factors are also discussed. Great read for those of us who travel.
