Creative makes claim to patent covering iPod technology

Patent disputes seem to be in the news all the time these days. We patented this, our patent says we own that. This time, it’s the turn of Creative Technology, who claims that they were previously awarded a U.S. patent for technology that wound up being incorporated by iPod and other inventions. Currently, the company is said to be "considering options", but has not revealed if it will be filing any kind of suit. Both Apple and Creative have declined to comment further, however the smart money is on Creative taking some kind of action and going after royalties of some sort in very due course. Perhaps the company won’t take up legal action immediately but try to get Apple to negotiate. News of this made Creative shares surge 7.7 percent on Wednesday to a 3- month high of S$14.00 in Singapore.

  1. Should I go into a rant about the broken patent system, or a rant about Creative's unethical patent filings...I don't have the time.I think I will just bring this one up again:[url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmack%27s_Reverse[
