Sharp Releases 1000000:1 Contrast LCD

SHARP is offering a new Premium LCD that has an insane contrast ratio of 1000000:1. Dubbed the “Sharp ASV Premium”, that is a constrast level more than 10 times the next device on the market. It is a 37” display, which would be fairly decent for the home but seems to be geared towards “professional” TV. Constrast ratio is especially important in a LCD for picture quality, and anyone who uses a LCD to watch DVD movies with will understand the difference between 1000 and 1000000.

Although that doesn't relate to how responsive the display is, it definitely is an indication of how crisp the image can look and what the future holds for flat planels of all sorts, in both computers and entertainment systems.
