Sony PSP Gets 4GB HDD

By Justin Mann

The popular Sony PSP will have the potential for a bit of an upgrade soon in the form of a 4GB Hard Drive. The drive connects into the PSP's existing memory slot and supposedly will blend in fluidly. This vastly increases the storage of the PSP over the existing memory sticks and provides plenty of room for game data and movies. If that wasn't cool enough, the drive is also coming bundled with a replacement battery that will last “twice” as long as the existing battery. The so-called “X2” isn't cheap, with the package coming in at a hefty $249, but over the holidays prices may drop and become palatable. For now these addons are only being released in the U.S., though a European release date will likely come soon.

  1. who wants an external hard drive for a portable device like that? imagine someone trying to go jogging with their PSP and an external hard drive. sure it cud be used at ur desk to listen to music but isnt that the purpose of a computer? just a thought...
  2. It's a lot cheaper than a 2GB Memory Stick and twice the capacity. I've been waiting for something like this.If I want to go jogging I'll take something w/o a video screen like my Nano.
  3. You will appreciate the storage for playback of movies on that beautiful screen.
