Office 12 Screenshots and OpenOffice Delayed

By Justin Mann

There are some interesting screenshots of the upcoming “Office 12”, Microsoft's successor to Office 2003. I will admit they do look quite pretty, but the similarities between these and Aqua is uncanny. Microsoft has officially stated that these themes won't be final, with more revisions still in the works. It does look quite polished, and is likely designed to blend in with Vista and utilize the hardware-accelerated desktop Vista will require.

In other Office related news, OpenOffice 2.0, originally set to be released today, has been delayed due to fatal bugs found within the software. Rather than release it as final, they have decided to produce a 3rd Beta to remove more flaws in the suite. Hopefully, and most likely, we will see the final release before the end of the year.

  1. I'm really watching PowerPoint, which seems to be Microsoft's most-neglected product. This version appears to finally contain some professional changes.
