Another interesting piece of hardware in the continued evolution of the laptop into a replacement desktop, as well as just a general tech accessory, these USB Docking Stations from Vantec looks great. USB docking stations aren't exactly new, but this all-in-one device that provides even BIOS support is truly great. Serial, parallel, PS/2 additional USB and Ethernet – all from a single USB controller. The article covers the particulars fairly well, though the most interesting note is the versatility. You could have just about any run of the mill machine, and whether your reasons were damaged hardware to adding more devices to just expanding what a desktop or a laptop could do, this device suits the purpose. For a service technician or a hobbyist this is definitely a great tool to consider.
