What kind of display can $10,000 get you? Starting next year, it can get you a 56 3840x2160 1000:1 contrast ratio flat panel that has resolution surpassing HDTV. The display, recently demoed at an international technology conference, was produced by Chi Mei Optoelectronics. They have stated that it is not easy to create these monsters and that a non-defective part doesn't just roll off the line. With a beast this big you wouldn't expect it to be perfect right off, and though this is far out of the price range of most enthusiasts, it's still a tantalizing idea. Someone with the will and way may just want to watch four different TV channels in HD at once! With the size and price of modern HD sets, after a few years a set like this may become the norm. Unfortunately there are no photos of the display currently.
