Hardware vendor Asus has come out with an LCD that may be one of the first to truly satisfy a gamers needs in the form of a 17” flat panel with a mere 3MS response time. Though response time isn't everything, all around this one is put well together. The contrast ratio isn't the highest at 600:1, but it supports independent brightness and contrast reduction on the fly, which does make a difference in visual quality. Response time is important for smoothness at very high framerates, so this might be the sign of the tides turning for LCDs. Built-in speakers make it seem this is more targeted towards office use than performance use, so hopefully we'll see similar models without them.
