Samsung Electronics seems to have a bit of a contradiction in mind when it comes to its plans with the Intel corporation - the electronics giant wants to beat Intel in computer chip sales, but also has the aim of making a better partnership with the company at the same time.

During its investor relations session on Friday, Samsung's vice president Yun Jong-yong and other chief executives made a strong commitment that the company will become one of the top three electronics firms by 2010 in terms of both quantity and quality, which means that it will try to raise its brand value and revenues in its semiconductor business over Intel.

On the same day, Samsung's digital appliance division showed off their friendship with Intel by participating in the Intel Developers Forum in Seoul as one of the ``gold sponsors'' along with Microsoft and Hewlett Packard.
