Yes, it finally happened - a BitTorrent user has been jailed for movie sharing. Chan Nai-ming, 38, a Hong Kong citizen, has been jailed for three months after sharing three Hollywood movies online using the network. He was sentenced by the Tuen Mun Magistrates Court on Monday, and is thought to be the first person to be convicted of copyright infringement using the BitTorrent file-sharing network.

Customs officers arrested Nai-ming in January 2005. He pleaded not guilty to copyright infringement but was convicted after a four-day trial.

  1. Quote"Yes,... has been jailed."What, do you enjoy of others getting jailed or something? To me, I don't think he did much wrong especially if he didn't have the money to buy the movies or if they were overpriced! Getting jailed for sharing just 3 movies is just stupid.
  2. I meant "Yes (sigh)... It finally happend."Not"YES! It finally happened!"
  3. What is even worse is that he was sharing crappy movies! :o
