Reigncom's iRiver to go WiMAX

The iRiver portable will be getting an overhaul, with Reigncom stating that the next release of the device will include support for game consoles and broadband internet via WiBro, an as of yet unavailable company providing a WiMAX-based network. Set to first come in 2006, the tech will enable the iRiver to do a lot more, though exactly what remains to be seen. Reigncom has been in a bit of a shuffle the past year or so as other players begin to dominate the market, and without innovation it won't go anywhere. Standalone, one-purpose devices such s the Zen and iPod aren't easy to tackle, so Reigncom is hoping a combination of features combined with fast wireless will be the advantage it needs, with portable gaming and internet everywhere some of the key points. You can read more about the iRiver at it's site.
