Asustek Computer, the giant behind ASUS motherboards, is going to turn a portion of their company public by separating the ASUS brand from the company, resulting in a publically traded company with the goal of becoming listed on the NYSE. This will allow Asustek to focus on manufacturing. The new company will be centered in Singapore.

"Asustek's own-brand operation is expected to turn into a new independent company, which will set up a headquarters in Singapore and will aim for listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in the future, according to the sources"
Contrary to earlier rumors and reports that manufacturing would be the portion of the company separated, with a separate Asus brand we may see a different model being used for Asus products. How this will affect Asus hardware, which has been synonymous for quality in the past, remains to be seen.
