According to firm Mercury Research, ATI's newly introduced line of chipsets may outsell vendor SiS in the near future. ATI chipsets could exceed 8 million units shipped for 4Q 2005, and due to supply issues with SiS that may be enough.

"According to the projection compiled by Mercury Research, SiS is expected to take third place in the global chipset market in the fourth quarter, with 8.8 million units. Following SiS, ATI will enjoy on-quarter shipment growth of 80% during the same period, stated the research firm."
ATI's chipsets have received good reviews so far and keeping them out of the realm of "no supply" will help ATI gain a lead.
