Podcasting has become such a phenomenon this year that the New Oxford American Dictionary has declared it as "Word of the Year". A definition that has been agreed on is "a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player". This is all not surprising, given how the popularity of Podcasts have soared in the last 12 months; anyone with a microphone, computer, software and a net connection can make themselves an easy way of getting digital content and playing it when and where they want. With many radio stations such as the BBC making their shows available as downloadable MP3 files, Podcasting is set to likely get more and more popular in future.
