Intel partners with BMW

By Derek Sooman on December 15, 2005, 5:01 PM
The BMW Group and the world’s biggest chip maker Intel have announced that they have entered into a comprehensive partnership, which aims to encompass areas of mutual co-operation on technology, co-marketing and Intel's sponsorship of the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Intel technology will be deployed throughout the BMW Group and its worldwide dealer network, and Intel will aid BMW in standardizing the IT infrastructure in their worldwide data centres. The BMW Group will also convert its corporate notebooks to Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems.

Prof Dr Burkhard G schel, BMW Group board member for purchasing and development, said, "Like the BMW Group, Intel also sets the highest standards of performance, innovation and quality for its products. For both companies, technological leadership is a fundamental goal. Our methods of systematically turning ideas into innovative products will be excellently supported and complemented by Intel's innovative technology and highly efficient solutions. This partnership stands to benefit our IT, our customers and our Formula One team."

LOL! Somehow I don't think Sauber would be the team of choice to sponsor. Crazy!

But Sauber, don't think even a blessed chip can get them passed the starting line!

What you guys perhaps don't know, is that Sauber has the largest/best windtunnel for F1 car-design, and that it is fully powered by AMD Opterons!Apparently Intel does not come anywhere NEAR the AMD technology, so they try to sock one to AMD, rather than just support Sauber and/or BMW.It's all politics!

BMW should stick to its Sallon cars, and continue those great M3/5/6 :)Did you notice that every bit of what this schul guy said is BS ? Intel does not have any innovative products, nor technology leadership. AMD is just better, period.Go Ferrari & AMD ! :)[url]http://www.adm02.com/Marketer/AMD/AMD_Opteron_Newslet
