Best Buy stores getting more Xbox 360s in?

By Derek Sooman on December 21, 2005, 4:05 PM
Looking for an Xbox 360? Well, according to this memo from Best Buy, there will be another shipment of Xbox 360s this week in their stores. The memo instructs staff to remove any signs from storefronts that mention availability of the Xbox 360.

So if all those signs suddenly disappear from the front door, it may mean that you should check back the next day.

Also, be sure to use the magic phrase "I'm looking for an Xbox 360" when the door greeter asks, "What brings you in today," otherwise you might not be escorted to the "controlled sales area." Employees are supposed to keep the console's presence on the down low, both before and after its arrival.

I'm really happy I waited that 14 hours in the freezing rain on launch day. I love my x360 and the pains to get one now are unbearable. I rather wait 14 hours and be done with than have to check on a daily basis to see if some are in stock.I cant believe people would spend so much money on ebay and what not for a console.. but then again thats ironic coming from a guy who waited 14 hours in freezing rain.Still... Anyway, at least some more people will have a happy holidays.. hopefully stock fills out more once the holidays are over.

I wonder if microsoft really has so few xbox 360's available or if they are just controlling the release amount to generate excitement, and drive prices. I guess some people could get one for Christmas, but IMO it's too expensive to give for most people I know.

i am waiting to get one. i never buy microsoft as soon as it is out. because microsoft never gets it right on the first try, i will let them get the bugs out of it first or i will wait to gt a PS3.

And Sony has it right the first time but the quality goes down and down and down and down with each newer releases. While they last forever, the first units have bugs.

Well atleast all this shortage and waiting for 1 month for stores to get them back in stock taught me something. From now on, I'm going to preorder new consoles like the PS3 just to be sure I get it. Ive never really had to do this because it seemed that all the stores had whatever I needed, except now with the 360.

Microsoft is suppost to be recalling all the systems because of numerous errors that they have recieved. http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/23/users-report-xbox-36
-crashing-like-mad/Apparently, they put the Disk drive right above the HDD causing the HDD to overheat. When they recall all the systems they are putting a copper plate in between the two with a fan at the end so the heat blows aways from the HDD. Mind you this is just rumors and I have yet to discover any truth to them.

As for the BestBuy 2nd shipment, this already happened (On Dec. 18) and it was widely discussed on internet message boards and hot deals sites. http://www.fatwallet.com/t/24/555510 It was even known how many Xboxs each store was getting. That memo could be a week old. There were also some available online for a few minutes that morning.

Well I dunno about all of you, but the PS3 has a much better lineup than 360. Its not all about games and such, but its about the quality of those products. If your a multimedia and online freak, go with the 360, but for games, go with PS3. The competition between these two consoles, lie soley with everyone's preferences between Multimedia and gaming. Both the 360 and PS3 are bascially the same. Just made by different companies. But as for me, I'm waiting for the PS3, because their gaming lineup is going to wax the 360 in every way possible.

PS3 right now has GT5, DMC2, MGS4, and those are its big hitters. Killzone 1 sucked so im not too interested in Killzone 3. While the Xbox 360 has well over 100 games headed down the line and over 200 in development. Titles like Halo 3, Ninja gaiden 2, Fable 2, Forza Motorsport 2, Gears of War, GTA 5, Half Life 3, Splinter Cell Double Agent and many more. Sony hasnt even got a lineup yet and also we know so little about the PS3 it could be vastly superior to the 360 and u say there virtually the same? You must only play Madden.

This message is for everyone who commented on this topic. The Microsoft Company does have stockpiles of X-Box 360's and they have sent out millions on foreign lands because quote, unquote "They made the buying market that much more aggressive". They are able to charge other countries a lot more that on American soil because we have laws here.Standing in the freezing rain for more than 5 minutes is idiocracy if it is for something as simple as a game system. Dont get me wrong because I love gaming too but I dont sacrifice my life and body to it. I wait for the market to die down and I obtain mine. I dont rush the shelves and pay an enormous amount of money for a system fresh off the testing platforms. Its also true that PS3's line up is somewhat lessened and x-box 360 has showed them up but ps3 has a little while before they get released so they still have plenty of time. Enasni

Microsoft is recalling all the XBox 360's ?? It's crazy, how will they deal with that ? Where did you hear that ? :|Waiting 14 hours to get a console is just crazy for me. I would just go home and wait a couple of weeks. What will happen ? nothing. You will just get it a month later. Boohoo, spooky...

They sell the Xbox at Harvey Norman's in Ireland for Euro 99.- if you buy 2 of the games available for it.There being only 9 games (worldwide!), why would anyone buy an Xbox in the first place? And it being made by Micro$haft does not give one much confidence, does it?

Has the PS3 launch price been announced yet? I think that'll be the deciding factor if anyone will take the upperhand this generation.

There was a report on the internet that Worst Buy warehoused most of the Xbox 360's for sale before Xmas. They apologized for some of the store managers taking advantage by forcing people to buy bundles.

Its all about money. Money money...muneeee! I dont own a console system since the days of super nintendo and i sold that cause i felt it was taking too much of my life. Yet they do serve their purposes for some. Its all about suppy and demand. THe funny thing is prices of the xbox 360 overseas are likey to go down since demand is down. While prices in the USA will NOT go down anytime soon since everyone wants one. As for besy buy holding some Xbox 360s back for x-mas i dont see anything wrong with that. BB just felt they could make mo'money that way.

I mean, why do you think Windows Xp costs over 100 euros? There are millions of people buying it so you'd think the price would go down with so many being bought. Its a monopoly so they can put whatever price they want. Unfortunatly, they've forgotten that Xbox isn't a monopoly and are putting crazy prices and no games. Trust me, the revolution will be much cheaper and have many games. Same with the PS3. Halo 3? Half-life 3? They'll probably come out in 2008!
