Google and Microsoft reach agreement over Dr. Kai-Fu Lee

By Derek Sooman on December 27, 2005, 6:03 PM
Remember the legal battles over Dr. Kai-Fu Lee leaving Microsoft to work for Google?

Microsoft argued that Lee's appointment violated his contract, because he would have had access to all Vole’s secret plans before his defection.

Google counter-sued saying that it had done nothing wrong and that Microsoft was using the legal system to act unfairly.

Well, it now appears that the two giants have apparently buried the hatchet. Details of the agreement have not been made public, but it appears that both sides are reportedly very happy with how things have turned out.

Both sides are happy with the agreement? Thats interesting considering that Ballmer vowed to "kill" google after they recruited Kai-Fu Lee. Do you suppose that google had to play possum to reach settlement?

No one would like to fight in this war. Not Google nor Microsoft needs this bad publiclity of fighting over some employee. I'm sure Microsoft didn't loose much when this employee went to Google. There are a lot of great workers in this field out there, and Microsoft will certaintly find them.

I am suprise the M$ didnt hire a hit man to take out Kai-Fu Lee. Especially considering that soucres say that Steve Ballmer threw a chair and said the "F" word when he found out it was google. Can we say "psycho". I am not surprised that Dr. Kai-Fu wanted to leave M$.
