Another mobile TV standard emerges
It runs in what is known as unpaired TD spectrum and IPWireess already has four European operators already testing the system. One of which is in the UK.
TDtv has got a lot going for it. For starters, it keeps control of the broadcast content firmly in the hands of the network operator. Not a third party.
TDtv is built around MBMS - the TV version of multimedia messaging. Sprint Nextel has invested $10 million in the technology.

Gee, there are so much TV standards out there! I don't even listen TV at all so I find that it's just lost R&D. Give me a full-packed satellite subscription and I'm 100% sure that I will find everything boring. There's absolutely nothing interesting on TV![Edited by DragonMaster on 2006-01-18 20:05:31] |

Awesome!!!! mobile TV sounds like its getting better. But to me, this post seems like an act, to provoke the competition. |

I don't watch a lot of television, so I don't have any vested interests in the technology, but I have heard a lot of buzz about the Slingbox. If I were to watch more television, it would certainly have to be mobile-ready from the start. I think that eventually all of these technologies will converge into one, and I'm pretty sure it will resemble a cross between a Personal Data Assistant (PDA) and a cell phone. But I could be wrong, it could be an implant in our brains that interfaces directly with our bodies. If Sprint is investing $10,000,000 in the technology, it must be going somewhere fast. |

I can imagine kids whith their eyes almost literally glued to it trying to see the small people that are in a small screen! |

oh come on, not another standard war. I hate these companies that keep coming up with so many standards and we as consumer are suffering. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a standard something that has been adopted by the majority or a group/agency? I've always thought TDtv, HD-DVD, and the like were formats striving to become the standard. |
