By Derek Sooman on January 25, 2006, 6:06 PM
The Toshiba Corporation is to introduce its range of home appliances and mobile phones to the Indian market. The Japanese electronics giant plans to start manufacturing facilities in India to meet demand.

"We are currently studying the requirements of typical Indian households," the Managing Director, Toshiba India Pvt Ltd, Itaru Ishibashi, told reporters here today.
Initially, it is planned that products will be sourced from a manufacturing facility in Thailand, but when the Indian facilities are on line they will be the chief source. The company also plans to step up on its brand building efforts in the country.

Funny Canadian. I guess its not really a big deal if you think about it. I wonder if India means Pakistan too because they pretty much are on the same level. Hopefully no racist upsets will come. You know how sensatives these religions like Catholasism and Islam can be though sometimes you can't really blame um with their past yadayadayada...
