LG Electronics to support Blu-ray and HD DVD

As the next generation DVD format war begins to heat up properly, LG Electronics has announced that it is to support HD DVD as well as Blu-ray in the coming war. Prior to this, LG was on the side of Blu-ray, but decided last month to also support HD DVD as well. LG expects to announce the first product later this year.

"We will do both," European president James Kim told Reuters.

  1. Its such a shame that the time where the two technologies might have merged has passed. There were talks about this, but they broke down and came to nothing.

    layer-this-spring-combo-player-this-fall/[/url]Claims that there will be a lg bluray+hddvd player later in the year. I previously read that licensing would prevent such a thing from happening. It might just be a rumor though...
