Interview with Hendri Richard of AMD

By Justin Mann

On March 13, 2006, 1:44 PM

What is AMD up to? Find out in a very interesting interview that Digitimes held with Henri Richard, VP for AMD . This one proves to be quite interesting and quite detailed, with only the first part of five currently available, though it is a hefty two pages alone. They cover the technology lead AMD uses in the market on their hardware, the state of the x86 architecture and its age and a potentially upcoming new core from AMD. It's absolutely great stuff, whether you are interested in AMD or just where the market will be heading. Power consumption and future development of existing architectures is briefly mentioned as well. Take a look if you are in to CPUs.

  1. Did he say K8 is a copy of a P3? I do hope K8L is a big suprise.
  2. I think he was talking about next Intels
  3. It's just that "Back to the Future" comment was fallowed with him saying NGMA looked more like K8 than anything, but all the new features are not found in any AMD or any other Intel CPU. I think the interview so far is just talk without any real meaning. It will be 1H07 before anything realy happens at AMD. It's about time we see some action in the processor market, after all dual core is the only thing that has happend in the last two years or more.
  4. x86 64-bit processors too, but they still aren't much used at 64-bit.
