Peter Molyneux, one of the UK's leading video games gurus, has been hired by Microsoft. Molyneux is known for inventing the god game genre, in which players control everything that happens in a game universe.

"What we love about Peter is the innovation he brings," said Microsoft gaming division head Peter Moore.
Following disappointing sales of his two most recent games, Black and White 2 and The Movies, Molyneux laid off 50 people from his company, Lionhead Studios, and future projects were scaled back. Microsoft's acquisition of the company will likely put things back on track.
