Disney recalls 102,000 portable DVD players

What are Disney-branded portable DVD players doing? Overheating, apparently, and now being recalled, much to the chagrin who bought them a mere month ago. Various models from the line, all based off the “DP3500”, have a defect that causes the batteries to overheat, resulting in potential burns or other heat-related issues. With 17 reports filed so far, and over 100,000 units in the field, a recall is probably a smart idea, and likely the manufacturers of the devices are working on a fix. Because who needs another lawsuit?

  1. Overheating? Okay... Is it really that battery hungry? Is it an excuse to recall for something else? Maybe it's region-free??
  2. Maybe, but of corse it they will blame it opn something else, then the consummer goes, "You know this does get hot maybe I should return it"
