Nokia and MIT to work on the phones of the future
Nokia and MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory are to work together to come up with the phones of the future. The Nokia Research Centre is planning all sorts of interesting features for new phones, including Project Simone, which will allow a mobile phone to be controlled through voice commands. Other features being offered in the future include enhancing the web experience, integrating phones into the next-generation internet, and increasing the processing power of handsets without making them bigger or more power consuming.
"Our mission is to explore and develop technologies that will be available in the marketplace in five to 10 years, not just novelties but technologies that will see mass market demand from consumers and enterprises," said Bob Iannucci, head of the Nokia Research Centre.
