If you've been following Vista or trying out the beta releases, you'll be excited to know that Microsoft has now release Windows Vista Beta 2, and release the next Office beta alongside it. Anyone that has a MSDN or TechNet subscription can snag these, so if you work in an IT firm with a Microsoft partnership you can download it for free straight from MS. If you don't have a subscription, all you're able to snag is the Vista CPP, which still may be worth reading. Some of the changes including task manager functions for regular users that keeps them within the scope of their own processes, various fixes for over 100 programs that had bugs or flaws with Vista, and other integration issues. If you're planning on rolling Vista out, it's always good to keep up on changes, so get it soon.

They released beta 2 a long time ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was in december.

What they are releasing today (yesterday) though is the build they actually consider Beta 2, not the previous ones that could be similar. It's simply a way to say they have reached a milestone in their testing process, as well as integrating features that are intended to be in the final release.

This is the Official Beta 2. The other builds were considered Pre-Beta 2 builds. Microsoft split Vista into 2 different build branches after Beta 1 was released in July. All builds after Beta 1 (5112) were just considered pre-beta 2 builds. This is the Official Beta 2. Builds 5219, 5231, 5259, 5321, 5365, 5381 were nto Beta 2 even though they said it on the Desktop with the watermark.

I think you guys are getting things confused. This is the first Beta 2.. thre was an IE7 Beta 2 released, but thats it. Vista started on alpha builds and if I recall correctly hit its first beta sometime around the turn to 2006.I'm waiting for when they start on the release candidates.. thats when I'll check out vista and sample what it has to offer in prep. for purchase whenever it finally comes.
