More impressions on Vista Beta 2

If you haven't gotten the chance to try Beta 2 of Windows Vista but still want to know what the deal is, there's a good first-impressions write up of it available. Including a gallery of screenshots from Beta 2 (though they are markedly the same as the first beta) as well as outlining some points of change, it's worth a read if you're a bit timid about placing it onto a production machine just yet. The task manager changes are noticeable, though the article doesn't go at all into application compatibility. Aesthetically it's not something to complain about, of course. If you don't currently have access to it, you can still get in line for TechNet to download it later when it becomes more publically available.

  1. Just seeing picture #2 makes me feel it's going to be harder to use than NT3 to XP. It's not a menu anymore for your programs, it's a box. I see some copying of OS X's Finder here, and I find it absolutely hard to use.
  2. DragonMaster - What? harder to use? I'm testing the beta and it's nothing but a joy to use - intuitive, feature rich and fast.copying of OSX finder? Why do you mac people whine and cry on a daily basis about something so trival? Do you think anyone else really cares? with over 96% of the market Windows users worldwide - it's now ours. So deal with it.
  3. I wonder how long it will take for microsoft to drop XP now.
  4. The beta is fun (just got a copy from neighbor). They are thinking about coming out with windows xp sp3 when Vista comes out. So I don't it will be droped right away when when we see Vista.
