Sirius halts production of certain satellite radio products
Similar to what XM faced a few weeks ago, Sirius is now forcing their manufacturers to halt production of certain products that may violate FCC rules. Currently, the FCC is undecided. Sirius is going a bit pro-active to avoid future issues:
According to reports, the FCC was continuing to review some Sirius products and a decision had not been made on whether the products complied with all necessary regulations, specifically with regrad to electronic interference. Sirius however stated that it did not expect any negative impacts from the FCC decision.
Satellite radio is an awesome technology, but one that still has a lot to overcome. Both XM and Sirius have been hit negatively by these decisions, and judging by the pace of the FCC it may be years before they see a good outcome.
