Corel purchases InterVideo

For the tidy sum of $196 Million, InterVideo will soon be acquired by Corel. Looking to greatly expand the sales market they have available to them, Corel will also end up getting a majority hold in Ulead by this, giving them a huge conglomerate of DVD and media software to play with. Odds are if you've bought a DVD player or burner, you've used or at least seen their software at one time or another. Corel, a company primarily based on home office and home media work, will be opening up a very broad range of new products with this acquisition. They are also known for many popular Windows utilities, such as WinZip, which they acquired last year.
