45nm technologies are still far off from mass production, but many companies are moving towards them, such as Intel. TSMC, one of the world's largest manufacturers of semiconductors, will now be working with Qualcomm to develop and manufacture 45nm chipsets to be used in handsets of various sorts. Supposedly, the production is only a year away, which brings the dream of other products being fabbed at 45nm much closer. There are many problems with moving to such a small process, not the least of which is current leakage, a problem that is currently plaguing Intel.
