Moixa demos USB powered battery charger

Ever been sitting down at a PC and thinking, “If only I could recharge this battery with the USB port”? I certainly haven't, but this gadget still seems pretty cool: A USB AA battery charger, soon to be followed up by additional units that can do AAA and 9V. From there, even USB-rechargeable cell batteries are planned. For a mere $24, you get an enclosure that will recharge appropriate batteries, and automatically shut off when it reaches maximum capacity. As far as speed goes in charging, it's about the same as any normal charger you'd plug into a wall – 5 hours from no charge.

Moixa Energy Holdings, the company the device, demonstrated the charger and the batteries for it at DEMOfall 2006. Interesting stuff.

Maybe I don`t understand what makes this charger special but my wireless keyboard and mouse shipped with a reciever that can charge its own (or any other) AA battery via USB.

This doesn't work without the need of rechargeable battries right?Btw, I had just took off an old dead battery in my dad's clock, it's a 9V and it expired on 2004 but it was working until last year; however it stopped working and thererfore I decided to take it out and guess what, it was blown up; the plastics on the top and bottom were out of the battery and they were breaking up easily and of course a little of white chemicals was also been spilled around the battery.
