Launch of PS3 in U.S. met with riots
As expected, the PS3 hit U.S. shelves today and was immediately stricken with massive demand. Similar to Japan, there were riots, robberies and even people getting shot at. While violence played a minor part in the release, it goes to show just how crazed people can become... over games. Either way, across the country people are now already gleefully sitting at home with their new console, ready to see what it has to offer. Sales figures from Sony probably won't be available for a few days, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that every available unit has been purchased or will be soon.
In this particular area, there were no riots. There sure were campouts, though, including some for people that have been waiting for more than a week. Every console in this area is sold, but big PlayStation 3 signs are still up. No word from Sony on when more consoles will be available.
