Apple might be making a significant step forward for newer Macs next year, with the possible inclusion of Blu-ray drives as a stock feature of the machines. Probably partially due to Vista's built-in readiness for HD DVD drives, there are some rumors flying about that as early as February, Macs with Blu-ray drives may be surfacing:

A short news-story filed by ThinkSecret web-site claims that according to industry rumors Apple is scheduled to receive the first Blu-ray drives for Macs in February. While details beyond that are unavailable, it is still noticeable event that Apple is considering to release a desktop or notebook with a high definition digital video disc.
The original post offers very few details, and official statements from Apple haven't been made yet. It makes perfect sense, though. The price impact on machines coming with these drives is probably significant, since standalone players alone are still very expensive.
