Sony settles with 39 states over rootkits
Sony is going to be shelling out even more, it seems, as more details of their settlement are released. Now settling with a total of 39 states, Sony is going to be paying $4.25 million to resolve all the complaints the states had with Sony's forced installing of rootkits. The amount the other states get is far less than the amount Texas and California got, with 13 states receiving $316,538 and the rest receiving $5,000
Despite all these settlements, it's still a drop in the bucket compared to other substantial losses Sony has seen this year.
