AMD sees 91.6% increase in revenue for 2006
Even though AMD is getting pounded in the performance arena by Core 2, 2006 was a very happy year for them, it seems. Overall, largely due to their purhcase of ATI, they saw a 91.6% increase in revenue and an increase in rank to the #8 spot for the semiconductor industry worldwide. Meanwhile, Intel lagged – seeing an 11% decrease in revenue and less than expected sales in the CPU arena.
AMD also held on to many gains via the Opteron and increased adoption of the X2, though they have their work cut out for them this year. R600 has yet to be released and any new marvelous processors are months down the road.
