ASUS to sell upgradeable notebook

Usually when buying a new laptop you are able to configure it to suit your needs, however once bought pretty much the only thing you can upgrade is RAM and maybe a larger hard drive. To that extent, the upcoming C90 model from ASUS promises to be the most customizable notebook yet. Everything from your choice of processor and graphics card to the 15.4 inch LCD screen will be upgradeable - according to ASUS - and thus expanding the lifespan of your notebook.

Reading the basic specs on this machine, it looks like it is intended to be used more as multimedia or Media Center computer. As for the looks, that is pretty subjective, however it seems to be a little on the bulky side. The C90 is expected to start shipping on May; you can see some pictures and read a few more details on NotebookReview’s hands-on at ASUS Headquarters.

  1. Hopefully other companies start to catch on to this. I would really like to eventually be able to build a notebook the same way I can build a pc.
