OCZ introduces Speed Class 6 SDHC cards

By Justin Mann

On May 10, 2007, 8:57 PM

OCZ is bringing a boost to the word of flash, introducing newer SDHC cards that will have a higher guaranteed write speed. These faster flash units are given a “Speed Class 6” rating, and in units with capacities of 4GB and 8GB will deliver a “minimum” write speed of 6MByte/sec. Unfortunately, they will not work in older readers, though more and more readers are able to handle cards like this (SDHC). The higher minimum write speed will be important as things like HD cameras and HD camcorders become more available and affordable. With the much increased data coming in with hi-def content, they'll need ample write speed to keep up. You can read the full press release at OCZ's site.
