Western Digital has launched a line of 250GB hard drives for laptops, beating Fujitsu to the punch. Their new Scorpio unit is a 5400RPM, 8MB cache beast with average latency of 4.2ms, making it somewhat impressive for a mobile unit. It comes with every other stock feature of the Scorpio line, such as IntelliSeek. Many companies have been producing 250GB and larger units, though shipments have been non-existent at best. Now, we might actually see them turn up in retail. With the number of laptops offering multiple hard drives, a laptop with a half terabyte of capacity or more is not that far off at all.
