Western Digital debuts 750GB Caviar SE16 HD

Western Digital announced through a press release their newest hard drive for the Caviar SE16 series. The WD Caviar SE16 750 GB, aka WD7500AAKS, is a beefy drive that delivers a 3 Gb/s transfer rate, 16 MB cache, 7,200 RPM and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) through a SATA interface. This hard drive achieves it large storage capacity through Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) and according to WD it also comes with a host of performance boosting features:

"WD knows that there is nothing more important than our customers' data," said Don Bennett, WD vice president and general manager of desktop storage. "Uniquely, our new desktop hard drive brings together SecurePark for better shock characteristics, StableTrac for better vibration performance and IntelliSeek to reduce power consumption. These proven features will further WD's lead as the most reliable desktop products."
The price for this 750GB hard drive is $249 and for now it will be available through Western Digital’s on-line store and distributors and resellers.
