Xbox 360 gets second GPU heatsink for added cooling?
If you are an Xbox 360 owner you have probably heard reports of the heating problems plaguing the console pretty much since the system’s release, and fear to turn it on one day to see the red ‘Ring of Death’. It seems that Microsoft is finally doing something about it, according to various reports, a hardware revision adds a second heatsink to the system’s GPU – a long overdue move by the software giant.
You can check out some pictures of the additional heatsink at Xbox-Scene.com. So far, it's unknown if Microsoft will install this new dual-heatsink technology only to repaired Xbox360s or also in new units.

I wish hardware companies would just take a few more looks at their hardware before releasing it to millions of people to use. I'm sure the people who have gotten a replacement with the standard design are just loving this. Just waiting to see if and when your 360 will be next in line to visit the Red Ring Hell. |
