Hitachi reveals dual-format HD player

We as consumers know that the real winner of the format wars will be vendors offering dual-format players. They are few and far in between at the moment, so seeing Hitachi's new offering is definitely interesting. Hitachi is unveiling a dual-format HD player. Actually, you might as well call it a quad-format player, as it can read HD DVD, Blu-ray, DVD and CD media, as well as being able to write most of those formats as well. The only thing this unit will lack is the ability to burn HD media, though it's one step closer to the hardware we want.

Hitachi hasn't issued release dates, pricing or any other information as of yet, but this unit will be one to look out for.
