Sony and Apple sued in Japan over faulty battery

On the corporate end, the lawsuits against Sony and others who carried faulty batteries might be over. On the personal end, however, they are not. As there are likely many faulty batteries still in the field, it wasn't surprising at all to hear of a Japanese couple taking both Sony and Apple to court.

They are suing the companies over defective batteries. The suit, first of its kind in the area, is due to burns and other issues caused by a Sony battery in a Macbook exploding:

According to public broadcaster NHK, the man suffered burns on his finger after the laptop's battery pack burst into flames at his home in April last year.
Due to the immense amount of recalled units the past few years, I'm actually surprised we haven't seen more of this. Perhaps as the batteries still in the field age, we'll see more.
