Fox, MGM to push for Blu-ray

Just one day after Paramount and Dreamworks announce that they are ditching Blu-ray, some of their competitors have emerged to voice support for it. Fox and MGM have announced a wide set of plans to push Blu-ray titles.

Fox and MGM's reasoning is almost exactly the same as Paramounts, but in a different context. They cite better existing sales as their reasoning, and as such have pledged for bring 29 new Blu-ray titles before the end of the year, as well as bringing some television series to Blu-ray as well.

As a consumer, I don't want to see bitter division between media companies – especially if it means “exclusive” content on one format over another. Even if that is the case, however, I still believe that dual-format players will be the norm in a few years, especially since you have many manufacturers already pioneering them.
