Wistron strikes out at Samsung
Wistron, the company behind many behind the scenes products such as MiniPCI wireless adapters for notebooks, has launched a preemptive lawsuit against Samsung. Preemptive? Yes, it seems that as a bit of retaliation in what they saw as thinly-veiled threats coming from the industry giant, Wistron is taking Samsung to court.
Their aim isn't money, however. They wish to have it stated in the courts that they are not violating any patents owned by Samsung, since that is how these shenanigans began. Samsung's original threats towards Wistron for supposed patent infringement, and if Wistron really believes themselves to be in the right it's no surprise that they would want it out in the open.
There has been no response from Samsung yet. It seems equally possible that they will fight back, or instead decide to let sleeping dogs lie.
