Intel's LessWatts.org to inspire Linux power management
More cool stuff coming out of the IDF today, Intel has announced the launch of a new project aimed exclusively at Linux and power management. The new LessWatts.org has the goal of being a community project to bring Linux users, developers and open source vendors together to focus on technology improvements in the interest of reducing power consumption.
The spread of the project goes far beyond just desktops or servers, but extends to laptops and the plethora of mobiles devices running on Linux as well, which is quite a lot. They are focusing on various different aspects of Linux and open source project development, such as enhancements to the Linux kernel and better software tools to manage an environment.
Other companies are in on the project too, such as Novell. You can read the full press release at Intel's site.
