Looking to expand its portfolio and boost its presence in the popular $1.4 billion racing genre, Activision had agreed to acquire Bizarre Creations, the United Kingdom studio behind the popular Project Gotham Racing title - an Xbox 360 exclusive. But whether that franchise will remain exclusive to Microsoft's platform was put in question, after information posted on Bizarre's website hinted that its big franchises could become multiplatform:

Our future titles can be on whatever we please - we are a truly multiplatform studio now. Of course that doesn't mean that we'll be forced to make a port of every game to every console in existence... we simply have that option available to us.
Microsoft, however, will likely find a new development team for its racing franchise as the company has clearly it stated plans to keep its top-selling Project Gotham Racing exclusive to the Xbox 360.

This makes yet another beefy buy for Activision. Last year, the company acquired game publisher RedOctane's Guitar Hero franchise for a reported $100 million to strengthen its position in the music genre.
