Hacker locks eBay users out

By Justin Mann on October 8, 2007, 8:40 PM
Ebay has suffered a minor setback after a recent hack, with a hacker attempting to defraud several people managing to get some user accounts locked. According to eBay the hacker didn't actually manage to defraud anyone, being unable to get actual access to financial information.

Ebay has already restored the accounts in question, though they aren't saying exactly how many accounts were locked out as a result of the hackers actions. If they did manage to prevent the hacker from getting information that will come as a relief to those who suddenly found themselves locked out.

This is the second instance in the past month in which a flaw in eBay was brought to public light. On top of issues with fraud from real sellers aside from just plain scammers, it is definitely hostile territory. They are not releasing any information on what the actual hack was.
