Vonage seeks appeal in Verizon case
After settling with Sprint for a sizable chunk, Vonage is taking a short trip down memory lane to their loss in the courts at the hands of Verizon. With one settlement under the table, they are now seeking to have their case with Verizon be reviewed. The appeal comes after they were ordered to pay $58 million in restitutions to Verizon for patent infringement going back several years.
With their shares having dropped dramatically the past two years and only recently coming to a somewhat stable point, Vonage has definitely suffered some serious financial hurt recently. Not having the case reviewed would be a mistake, though even if it turns out in their favor it won't undo the damage done from the Sprint lawsuit.
It is hard to have confidence in them with so many defeats and an obvious financial struggle, though it would be a shame to see one of the few large VoIP companies disappear.
