Asus’ Eee PC 8G to hit U.S. retail shelves this month
When Asus’ Eee PC first hit store shelves last month, many were disappointed that the top Eee PC 8G model which debuted in Taiwan was not made available to US buyers. If you are among those holding back on purchasing the popular 2-pound notebook for its somewhat limited storage capabilities, you’ll be happy to know that the 4G and 4G Surf are about to be joined by the 8G model.
Listed for $499, the tiny laptop ups the specs with an 8GB SSD and 1GB of DDR2 memory and will hit US retail shelves as early as mid-December, according to Dynamism. While that is a $100 bump compared to the same model in Taiwan, it’s still much cheaper than the most affordable ultra-portable notebooks on the market today.
